When I moved across country, from Edmonton to Halifax (I am Canadian eh) Anita was one of the first people I met.

Amidst the chaos of settling in, our paths crossed early on. With a background in social media management and event photography, I jumped into volunteering for Social Media Day Halifax ’19. Little did I know, it would become the 6 degrees of separation of my local network, connecting me with Anita, co-founder of SMDH and founder of Twirp Communications.

Anita’s mantra? “UNDERcomplicating social media marketing for smart, successful knowledge-based small businesses.” That’s her superpower. Over time, as I launched my business, our paths intertwined even more. From capturing her workshops (my Instagram debut) to photographing her family for a community magazine, our connections increased. I took her No BS Blueprint and successfully applied to be a presenter at the next SMDH. Now, I am their go-to event photographer!

It didn’t stop there. Anita’s been a regular at my photoshoot days, making the most of three sessions over the past two years. The first was a Social Session, where she and her SMDH co-founder geared up with images to market the event. Most recently, two Micro Sessions fit her personal rebrand, unveiling “Spicy Anita” —a bold, leather-clad persona transforming Twirp Communications into the Anti-Hero of Social Media Marketing.

I am addicted to getting photos done with Allison. I’ve done three of her micro sessions this year alone, each one with a totally different look and feel.
